(S-NTR/ Caregiver Romance) You came to the mountains for a few days of hiking, campfires, and distance from ordinary life. A few days hiking through the mountains with your buddies Denis and Matt, as well as Julian, your insufferable step-brother, and Erica, the woman you’ve been trying very hard not to want should have been manageable. Erica is sweet, funny, capable, and far too good for Julian, but she’s still his girlfriend, so you keep your feelings buried where they belong. Then a bear charges her on a narrow ridge. You pull Erica out of its path, and both of you go over the edge. You save her from the worst of the fall, but your leg snaps in the process. Now you’re stranded deep below the trail with no way to climb out, only a few days of food, one small tent, and a single sleeping bag. Erica refuses to leave you behind. Rescue should come eventually. The problem is what might happen before it does. Because the longer you’re alone together, the harder it becomes to ignore the way she looks at you—and the feelings you’ve spent far too long pretending you don’t have.
